Mark Taylor Dominates Chrome Class at the Nürburgring with Three Victories and Overall Podium Glory!
The iconic Nürburgring served up high drama, scorching sunshine, and pulsating wheel-to-wheel action for Round 3 of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship. Famous for its technical chicane, heavy braking zones into Turn 1, and an atmosphere like no other, the German circuit tested every driver and machine to the absolute limit.
Stepping into the arena in the mighty #81 MAN TGX, Mark Taylor and the team delivered a masterclass in resilience, speed, and trackside spirit in front of tens of thousands of cheering fans.
🏁 Saturday: Speed, Silverware, and Saturday Heartbreak
Saturday morning kicked off with high intent. In Qualifying 1, Mark set a blistering lap to secure P10 overall and P2 in the Chrome Class, launching the #81 MAN TGX from Row 5 for the opening battle of the weekend.
When the lights went out for Race 1, Mark produced a superb, calculated drive through heavy traffic. Executing crisp overtaking manoeuvres and managing his Goodyear tyres through the circuit’s demanding mid-sector, he sliced his way up to P8 overall while taking a sensational P1 victory in the Chrome Class! Finishing 8th overall was a massive strategic boost, placing Mark right on pole position for the reverse-grid Race 2.
Starting on pole for Race 2 had the entire team electric with anticipation. However, motorsport can be as cruel as it is glorious. Mid-race, technical issues tripped an unintended overspeeding violation, resulting in an unfortunate disqualification.
Rather than letting the setback dampen their spirits, the team proved why their morale is unbreakable:
“The sun is shining and we’re having the best time here at the Nürburgring for the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship. Not even a disqualification can ruin our morale — tomorrow we race again!”
🔧 Sunday: Redemption, Raw Pace, and Overall Podium Glory
With the mechanics working tirelessly into the evening to rectify the technical gremlins, the #81 MAN TGX rolled back out on Sunday morning firing on all cylinders.
Mark set the tone early in Qualifying 2, storming to P1 in the Chrome Class and P7 overall to claim a Row 4 start.
Race 3 was a display of pure teamwork and tactical precision. Mark fought hard through the mid-pack, carving his way up to a brilliant P5 overall finish and taking another convincing P1 win in Chrome.
That performance set up a front-two row start for the final race of the weekend, Race 4. What followed was nothing short of breathtaking. Mark launched off the line and engaged in a thrilling battle at the very front of the Goodyear FIA ETRC grid. Keeping his head under immense pressure, he crossed the finish line to take a staggering P2 overall finish alongside another dominant P1 in Chrome!
Reflecting on the weekend, Mark said:
“Another successful weekend in the bag! In the final race, we took another 1st place in Chrome and a 2nd place overall. Could have been a full house if it wasn’t for our disqualification for overspeeding! Nürburgring, you have been amazing nonetheless. Next stop Autodrom Most for round four of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship.”
