CHAMPIONS! Mark Taylor Secures Maiden Chrome Title in Jarama Thriller

Mark Taylor Racing (MTR) finished the 2025 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) season in spectacular fashion at the Circuito del Jarama in Spain, with driver Mark Taylor clinching the coveted Chrome Cup title in a nail-biting final race showdown.

The Jarama weekend was the culmination of an intense, season-long battle for the Chrome class championship, which saw the title fight go right down to the wire. Taylor entered the final races separated by just a single point from his closest rival, Bradley Smith, setting the stage for a dramatic finale.

Race 4: A Championship Performance

The decisive moment came in the final race of the season (Race 4). Starting from the reverse-grid pole position, Taylor demonstrated exactly why he deserved the title, executing a flawless drive under immense pressure.

While Spanish home hero Antonio Albacete secured the overall race victory—edging ahead of Taylor at the first corner—Mark held his ground masterfully, crossing the line in 2nd place overall. Crucially, this secured him the Chrome Class victory for Race 4 and, more importantly, the three-point margin needed to seal the 2025 Chrome Cup Championship.

The final result is a testament to the resilience and dedication of the entire Mark Taylor Racing team through a challenging season.

Speaking shortly after stepping out of the truck as a champion, an emotional Mark Taylor paid tribute to the team:

“It feels amazing,” Taylor said. “It’s been an up and down season, the team has worked so hard and there have been big emotions, but to finally get it done, to win it on the final race, down to the wire, it has been brilliant. We kept our heads down, drove a clean final race, and that was enough to get the job done. I couldn’t have asked for a better championship battle—it keeps you on your toes, and it’s been absolutely amazing.”

The legendary Le Mans Bugatti Circuit hosted a challenging and action-packed penultimate round of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship on September 20-21, 2025. The Mark Taylor Trucksport Racing team faced a weekend of highs and lows, showcasing their resilience and determination as they fought for crucial championship points.

The weekend started with a solid qualifying performance for Mark, who put his truck in the 14th spot on the grid for Race 1. In a race of attrition, he showed great skill and racecraft, moving up three positions to finish 11th overall. In the Chrome 1 category, he battled hard to secure a respectable 4th place, setting the stage for a competitive weekend.

Sunday’s first race, Race 2, was a heartbreaking affair for the team. Starting from the reverse grid, Mark was looking to capitalise on his position when an unfortunate incident with another truck forced him to retire from the race. It was a tough blow, but the team’s focus immediately shifted to preparing the truck for the remaining races.

The team’s dedication and hard work paid off in Race 3. Despite starting from P14 due to his earlier qualifying issue, Mark drove a fantastic race, showing blistering pace as he climbed through the field. He crossed the line in 8th place overall, a commendable result given his starting position.

The final race of the weekend was a testament to the team’s fighting spirit. Mark drove a clean and consistent race, staying out of trouble and focusing on gaining positions. His efforts were rewarded with a podium finish in the Chrome 1 class, where he crossed the line in a well-deserved 3rd place.

While the team didn’t secure a victory in the Chrome 1 category at Le Mans, their consistent performance and ability to overcome adversity kept them firmly in the hunt for the championship. Mark Taylor Trucksport Racing delivered a strong and consistent performance at the Circuit Zolder for Round 6 of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship. The weekend saw the team overcome challenges and secure two podium finishes, further cementing their position in the championship standings.

The weekend began on a high note for the team, with Mark Taylor securing the Chrome class pole position. This solid qualifying performance set the stage for a competitive series of races.

Race 1: Starting from a strong position, Mark Taylor finished the first race in ninth place overall and fourth in the Chrome category.

Race 2: Taylor continued his consistent run in Race 2, again finishing ninth overall. He was rewarded with a podium finish in the Chrome category, taking third place.

Race 3: Race 3 proved to be challenging. Mark was running well and leading the Chrome class before an overspeeding drive-through penalty on the final lap dropped him to 10th overall and fourth in the Chrome category. The penalty was attributed to overheating brakes, which made it difficult to slow the truck down.

Race 4: The final race of the weekend was action-packed from the start. Mark Taylor expertly navigated through “mayhem” at the first corner to avoid a collision, though the incident pushed him back to 13th. Displaying remarkable determination, he fought his way through the field, making a brilliant move on Luke Garrett to climb up the rankings. A further incident ahead of him allowed him to move into P8 and, by the end of the race, he had climbed to seventh overall and secured another podium with a third-place finish in the Chrome class.

Mark Taylor Trucksport Racing faced a weekend of both highs and lows at the Autodrom Most for Round 5 of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship. The team showcased strong pace and fighting spirit, but an unfortunate incident brought their weekend to an early and dramatic end.

The weekend started promisingly, with the team testing the truck at the circuit on Friday, which proved beneficial. In the qualifying session, Mark Taylor drove the #81 truck to a tenth-place finish, securing a spot in the Super Pole session. He was just outside the top runners, with a good, consistent time.

Race 1: Starting from the fifth row of the grid, Mark had a great start and maintained his position into the first lap. He held off a persistent challenge from Steffen Faas throughout the race to cross the finish line in 10th place overall, securing a fantastic third-place podium finish in the Promoters Cup.

Race 2: Race 2 was a heartbreaking affair for the team. Mark Taylor was involved in a three-truck-wide incident which resulted in him losing control, spinning, and hitting the pit lane wall. The truck sustained extensive damage, and the race was red-flagged. Luckily, Mark was okay, but the incident forced the team to retire from the race and the rest of the weekend.

Despite the unfortunate end to the weekend, the team can be proud of their performance in Race 1, which demonstrated their speed and racecraft. The Mark Taylor Trucksport Racing team arrived at the Nürburgring for Round 4 of the 2025 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship, ready to take on the legendary German circuit. The weekend of July 12-13 proved to be a mix of stellar performances and a touch of misfortune.

The event kicked off with a strong start on Friday’s qualifying session for the first race, where Mark Taylor secured an impressive P2 in the Chrome category and P8 overall. This placed the team on the fourth row of the grid, a promising position for the start of the racing action.

Demonstrating consistent pace and skill, Taylor capitalized on his qualifying performance. He secured a commendable P2 in the Chrome category in both Race 1 and Race 2 on Saturday, earning two podium finishes and adding two trophies to the team’s cabinet. “I was really happy with how the truck handled during the first race,” Taylor commented. “We had great support from the team, and it felt amazing to bring home the silverware.”

Sunday brought renewed hope and another strong qualifying session for the third race, with Taylor again qualifying P2 in the Chrome category and P6 overall. The third race was briefly interrupted by a red flag due to a three-truck collision, but Taylor maintained his composure after the restart to finish P2 in his category and P8 overall. This consistent performance set him up for a pole position start in the final race of the weekend.

Unfortunately, the final race ended prematurely for the team. While starting from pole position, a radiator hose came loose, leading to a DNF (Did Not Finish). “It’s incredibly frustrating to end our weekend this way,” Taylor said. “We thought we were on for a perfect run of second places, but the water hose issue ended our race prematurely. However, as a team, we win together and we lose together.”

Despite the disappointing end, the team’s strong performance across the weekend kept them in the hunt for the championship title. Mark Taylor currently sits in second place in the Chrome championship, just four points behind the leader. The team is now looking ahead to the next round in Most, Czech Republic, on August 30-31, where they hope to reclaim the top spot.

Despite showing strong form early on, the team faced a setback that impacted their weekend results.

A Challenging Race Day

Hopes for a race victory were high, but the team’s fortunes turned during one of the races when a tension rod failure on the truck forced Mark Taylor to retire. This mechanical issue was a significant blow, causing him to not only lose his chance for a win but also to fail to classify in that race.

In the end, while Mark Taylor and the team showed great promise with their qualifying performance, the challenging conditions and the mechanical issue meant they left the Slovakia Ring without a podium finish.
